Then I arrived in Tucson only to hear that many people in Tahoe and the Eastern Sierra had clear skies! So much for weather forecasts. As a belated answer, anywhere in Yosemite Valley would work, but I'd favor the meadow in front of El Capitan to put Cathedral Rocks in the foreground as you shoot up and southward for that midnight event.
